Ayers Rock

Ayers Rock or Uluru in Australia's northern territory is over 342 metres. It is a sacred place for the aboriginies living in Australia. The caves around it are covered in Aboriginal paintings depicting Aboriginal culture. Why did they base their life around it? What made people throughout history take a shine to it? Well the Mountain is made up of Arkasic sandstone that reflects the suns light. In the day it glows bright orange under the intense Australian sun! Uluru is now in the center of a wildlife park. Over 350,000 tourists visit every year, many hoping to climb the steep mountain. However if you do visit try and hold back your tourist instincts. The Anangu people are native to the land and view the mountain as sacred. They protest every year at people walking up their mountain. How would you like someone climbing up your church?!
